Victoria Park, Auckland
Victoria Park in Auckland opened in 1905 and is home to cricket and rugby clubs as well as being a pleasant green space to walk or jog. There are views over to the Sky Tower in the CBD. It is named after Queen Victoria who died in 1901.

History & Attractions
The park was built on reclaimed land using building rubble. London plane trees were planted at the time which are now mature. Meant for active sports, the park does not have decorative flower beds. Victoria Park was the venue for the first ever international rugby league match played in New Zealand. Great Britain played against the New Zealand Maori team here in 1910.
The park is home to Grafton United Cricket Club which maintains the cricket pavilion and also has a skate park, children's play area, and basketball court. The 900-metre path the Victoria Park Path circles the park.
Victoria Park Market
Victoria Park Market, just east of Ponsonby Road in the Ponsonby district, is housed in a former waste depot and incinerator complex. There are several cafes and restaurants as well as stores and studios. The site includes the original 38 metre-tall chimney and the stables for the horses that once pulled the city's rubbish carts.
The 4-star Quest on Beaumont is on the western edge of Victoria Park.
