Air New Zealand is the country's national carrier. The airline flies to over 30 international destinations and 20 domestic airports. Headquartered in Auckland, Air New Zealand began as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), flying to and from Australia, in 1940. The company was nationalized in 1965 and became Air New Zealand. 

The airline carried over 15 million passengers in 2017, with its main hub being Auckland Airport. The airline has codeshare agreements with several other airlines including ANA, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic. Air New Zealand is a member of the Star Alliance network.

The company dates back to 1886 and is now part of the Fonterra Co-operative Group. The brand also sells milk, cheese and milk powder. Canterbury is a sportswear manufacturer. The company was founded by three British immigrants in 1904 and focuses on rugby apparel. It originated in the Canterbury region of New Zealand first making uniforms for New Zealand and Australian forces in World War I. 

The distinctive logo features three kiwi birds and represents the three "C's" of Canterbury Clothing Company and the three founders. Canterbury manufactures rugby shirts, balls, boots, head protectors and other items of rugby kit. It is associated in particular with the shirts worn by the New Zealand All Blacks.

 Over time Canterbury has branched out into casual clothing and accessories. The company's global HQ is now in Stockport, northwest England after the European arm, Canterbury Europe Ltd., was purchased by Britain's JD Sports in 2009 and then sold to the Pentland Group.

Whittaker's Chocolate is the largest chocolate brand in New Zealand and is based in Porirua. The business was started in Christchurch in 1896 by James Henry Whittaker, an immigrant from Britain who had experience in the confectionery industry, and is still family-run.

Zespri is the marketing name for New Zealand kiwifruit outside New Zealand. Zespri International Ltd. is a co-operative of 2,700 local growers and was established in 2000. Zespri's main products are the Green and SunGold kiwifruit varieties, which are sold in over 50 countries.
